Artefact Logo

Client: Artefact

Project: Naming and Logo Design

Lili Hall, local Seattle artist and jewelry designer approached us for help with a name and identity for her new company. Before we began the naming process, we considered the nature of her designs, target market and audience, sources for her inspiration, and subjective preferences. Ultimately the name Artefact was settled on. This name references the historical nature she pulls from; many of her pieces have Mayan and ancient artifact references, so the name Artefact was a natural fit. The name was used with an 'e' to differentiate her products from actual artifacts and to help her during the trademark process.

The logo continues the historical reference with use of hieroglyphic symbols found in caves and historical excavations sites. Considering her market of 35 to 70 year olds are a generation of women who appreciate historic art and jewelry we felt the use of ancient symbols mixed with deep reds would communicate her unique signature as a local Seattle artist.
